Black Death in AsiaAlthough it isn't focused on much, the Black Death is believed by many to have begun in Asia, or more specifically, China. Records show that it occurred in the Yuan Dynasty in the 1331. Some scholars believe that this helped end the Mongol rule. In 1334, an outbreak erupted in the Hebei Province, killing five million people, or an incredible 90%. In 1200, China had an estimated population of 120 million, but in 1393, a census recorded only 93 million people living in the country. This was due a great deal to famine, but the plague was also a major factor.
